Roadmap

Plans are taking flight

We have big plans for Tatenhill Airfield, investing in better facilities, modernising our aircraft and improving the overall training experience for all our students.

Below are just some of the improvements we’re working on:

  • A new home for the Flight School with construction already underway.

  • FlightLogger being rolled out to all students and self-hire pilots, making it easier manage bookings.

  • Upgrades to all our aircraft including Garmin G5 avionics.

  • Investments in new equipment to help keep the runway open during icy conditions.

  • Improvements to the Club House and a new Pilots Lounge for exclusive use of full members.

  • An events calendar to bring the community together, along with celebration of Spitfires comings from April.

Full Membership is required for all flight operations at Tatenhill Airfield, including training with our instructors, self-hiring an aircraft, and operating a hangared aircraft as a sole owner or syndicate. Membership is personal and required by each individual and non-transferable. Trial Flight Lessons do not require membership. Social membership is optional and not required to visit Tatenhill or access the café.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Membership

We offer Full Membership for pilots who wish to fly, train, self-hire, or operate aircraft from Tatenhill, and Social Membership for those who want to be part of the airfield community without flying.

Membership for 2026 runs from 1st Feb 2026 until 31st Jan 2027. 

Membership is paid annually in full at the time of joining or renewal. We do not offer monthly payment plans.

No. Membership fees are non-refundable, whether in whole or in part. This includes unused time, changes in circumstances, or early termination.

Membership pricing is reviewed annually, with any changes taking effect from 1st February each year. Members will be notified in advance of any change prior to renewal.

No. Membership is personal and non-transferable.

No. Membership at Tatenhill is held by individuals, not aircraft. Each pilot operating an aircraft from the airfield must hold the appropriate membership in their own name.

Flying, Training & Aircraft Use

Yes. Full Membership is required to undertake flight training, self-hire aircraft, or operate as a regular pilot from the airfield.

Full Membership includes eligibility for:

  • Flight training

  • Aircraft self-hire (subject to checks and availability)

  • Based aircraft operations

  • Fuel and landing benefits

All flying activity is subject to standard operational requirements.

 

Unlimited landing fees are included as part of membership. While this has historically applied to student, self-hire, and based aircraft, it now applies consistently to all member-operated aircraft, including visiting aircraft.

Yes. Full Members receive a fuel pricing benefit, currently set at 3% off standard fuel prices. We do not offer any other discounts on fuel.

Simply show your confirmation email, digital membership card (coming soon) or provide your name at the Office to apply your discount. 

Eligible Full Members may self-hire aircraft subject to:

  • Licence and currency requirements

  • Checkouts and approvals

  • Aircraft availability

 

Yes. Full Membership allows booking of PPL and other flight training with Tatenhill’s flying school.

Aircraft Ownership & Hangarage

No. Full Membership is open to students, self-hire pilots, and aircraft owners.

No. Membership provides eligibility for hangarage, but space is subject to availability and separate agreement. 

If you’d like to join the waiting list for hangarage, please contact [email protected]. You do not need to be a member to join the waiting list. 

Yes, subject to availability and operational approval. Membership is required to base an aircraft at the airfield.

Social Membership

Social Membership is for individuals who want to remain connected to the airfield and its community without flying privileges. It’s designed for anyone who wishes to support the airfield and benefit from being part of the Member’s Club. 

They enjoy discounts on the Pilot’s shop and cafe throughout the year, invitations to all membership events and access to the Club House. 

Social Membership should not be taken if you intend on taking lessons, self-hiring or hangar with us. 

No. Social Membership does not include flying, training, or self-hire privileges, though you may still fly with a Full Member as their passenger or have a Trial Flight Lesson.

Yes. Upgrades are available at any time, just contact [email protected] who will assist you.

The cost to upgrade is £110: £170 (Full Membership) minus £60 (Social Membership). 

Conduct, Complaints & Issues

All members are expected to act in a safe, respectful, and professional manner in line with airfield rules and aviation best practice. All Full Members must follow the Flying Orders Book found here

We encourage members to raise concerns directly with the airfield team in the first instance. Most issues can be resolved informally through discussion.

Yes. Membership may be suspended or terminated where a member:

  • Breaches the Membership Terms & Conditions

  • Acts in a manner unsafe or detrimental to the airfield or others

No refund will be due in these circumstances. 

As a working airfield, facilities, services, or operational arrangements may change from time to time. Membership does not guarantee the availability of any specific aircraft, instructor, service, or facility.

Tatenhill is continuing to invest in and develop the airfield, with updates shared with members as plans progress. While we aim to deliver these improvements, plans may change or evolve over time due to operational or business considerations. 

Data Protection & Communications

Personal data is processed securely and in line with UK GDPR. Information is only shared where there is a legitimate operational or regulatory requirement.

Members may opt-in to receive marketing communications where Tatenhill will periodically send out offers and promotions during sign-up.

 

Marketing communications are optional and only sent where you have provided consent during sign-up. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Yes. Operational emails which concern being a member at Tatenhill, which may include news, safety bulletins, updates about your membership and any other relevant information are sent to all members.
